The National Engineering & Scientific Commission (NESCOM) is a prominent Pakistani multinational corporation and a significant defense contractor dedicated to the research, design, and global sale of defense hardware, encompassing missile and weapon systems.[1] Initially established with financial support from the Government of Pakistan, NESCOM was created to enhance domestic weapon system production through private sector collaboration, with the Pakistan Navy and Air Force as its primary clientele.

By 2007, NESCOM had expanded its global footprint, annually exporting military equipment valued at approximately $40 million to numerous nations in the Middle East, South East Asia, and Africa. According to the then-Chairman Samar Mubarakmand, NESCOM had also developed a range of communication systems and electronic counter-measures systems tailored for the Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy. The formation of the National Engineering & Scientific Commission (NESCOM) in 2000 was the result of merging the National Development Complex, Air Weapons Complex, Maritime Technologies Complex, and the Project Management Organization.

In the early 2000s, NESCOM achieved notable milestones, including the development of the Shaheen family of missiles, the Babur ground-launched cruise missile, and the Ra’ad air-launched cruise missile.
